Embrace new energy and opportunities with changes in your Feng Shui in 2022

The most important things to do in Feng Shui for a house or business are cleaning, clutter elimination, organizing and repairing any broken items or parts of your space. Doing so will eliminate the stagnant energy and give room for new energies and opportunities to come into your space and your life, and now’s the time to do it.

As we move into spring, in Feng Shui this year, Yang season starts in the solar calendar on February 5, 2022, as the Yin season comes to its end.

Favorable Feng Shui in any space has a harmonious flow of chi or life-force energy (invisible but can be felt) that creates harmony, well-being and prosperity for its occupants.

The five elements in Feng Shui are Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal, which affect the healthy flow of chi. These elements can be enhanced or diminished if there is not enough or if there is too much of the particular energy present.

Lo-Shu is a grid (Bagua) divided into nine squares, with one in the center and others to represent cardinal compass directions. Each direction and number is correlated to one of the five elements mentioned above.

The Flying Stars method is used to follow the movement of stars, and to find energies for positive and negative, as they change locations each year.

Monthly moving stars and their combination with the yearly star energies will have an effect also.

A nine-equal-section grid (Bagua) imposed on a floor plan—part of a room or door may be in two sections or even more as the grid is placed on the floor plan—helps to divide the space according to the elemental energies and star locations in a space. The bottom of the grid faces North.

In buildings this year, the beneficial star locations are NW (6), North (1) and NE (8), so it’s good to spend time in those locations and enhance the beneficial energies in there (if needed). The 1 Water star, associated with North, bodes well for money, career and opportunities.

The center of the home or building should be kept calm and quiet this year. Real metal or bronze accessories can reduce the effects of 5 yellow earth star, the least desired. Whites or metal colors also work. Avoid reds, earth tones, fire and earthy materials like clay.

In my foyer, which aligns with the North section of the Bagua grid, I set up a small tabletop water fountain with a nice soft sound of moving, drizzling water. It’s accompanied by a Laughing Buddha statue carrying a money bag, holding coins in his arm and wearing a citrine necklace.

A selenite lamp with color-changing LED lights cleanses and moves the energy. And a metal plate on the wall also enhances the water element in the creative cycle.

There are more enhancement or balancing options for all elements in Feng Shui, and sometimes no action is required. Any remedies should be in place by February 5 if possible.
